How normal are layoffs in HR?

I’m just curious. Out of all of the HR professionals on this app, is it normal to experience layoffs at some period within your career? I just got my foot in HR and make me question my future job security. Are there some people who have never experienced a layoff during their career or is this a very normal thing in the HR world?
