Jekyll Island is one of the most beautiful places in the state of Georgia.
The island itself is only about nine miles wide, but it's definitely one of our best kept secrets.
I've been going since I was a little girl (when there was no "resorts" or shopping centers to speak of!) but I don't think | realized how beautiful it truly is until I became an adult.
They have an adorable little shopping centers, incredibly nice hotels (We LOVE Holiday Inn!
Poolside bar and playground!) driftwood beach, a waterpark, mini golf, Summer Waves, and so much more. It has gained popularity over the last ten years or so but it's still kept under wraps to a lot of folks because they choose some of the more widely known beaches here on the east coast. If you do decide to visit, I highly recommend renting a golf cart or "red bug" to scoot around the island. I promise you won't regret it!
The domesticated wildlife on the island is a shock to some if you're not expecting it, but the deer will come right up to you, completely calm and unafraid.
If you ever find yourself near Brunswick, Georgia... skip on over to Jekyll. You'll be glad you did.
