APARTMENT BEFORE AND AFTER ✨🌷
I can’t believe it’s been 6 months of living here already!! I know it can be intimidating to lean in to your design style when living in a rental, but I’m here to tell you LEAN IN 💗 I’ve always had a love for interior design and decorating, but rentals more often than not try to scare you away from making your house a home…CRIMINAL 😂 I’m loving all of the renter friendly brands that are here to change the game for us! And I’m sorry but I simply will always hang up curtains where I live 🤪
All this to say, enjoy the space you live. We pay way too much in rent to be sitting in a grey box 😂😂

Living in a rental doesn't mean you have to settle for a bland, uninspiring space. I know how intimidating it can feel to personalize a place that isn't technically 'yours,' but trust me, it's absolutely possible to create a beautiful and functional home you love. My own journey through a rental apartment makeover has taught me that with a little creativity and some clever renter-friendly solutions, you can turn any 'apt we moved into' into a warm, inviting 'home we made'. One of the biggest game-changers for decorating a rental property is embracing renter-friendly brands and products. Forget about permanent fixtures and welcome the world of temporary solutions! For walls, peel-and-stick wallpaper or removable decals are fantastic for adding personality without damaging paint. I’ve used Command strips extensively for hanging art and even lightweight shelves, avoiding nail holes entirely. These tiny investments make a huge difference in how a room feels, allowing you to experiment with different styles and colors. Lighting is another area where rentals often fall short. Overly bright overhead lights or outdated fixtures can instantly dampen a mood. I recommend bringing in plenty of floor lamps, table lamps, and even plug-in wall sconces to create softer, more inviting ambiance. String lights can also add a cozy, magical touch, especially in bedrooms or living areas. These simple changes are crucial for a renter friendly room makeover, dramatically altering the atmosphere without needing an electrician. Don't underestimate the power of textiles! Curtains, for instance, are a must-have for me, even if a rental comes with blinds. They add softness, color, and texture, and can significantly elevate a space. Pairing them with a stylish rug can define areas within an open-plan apartment and add comfort underfoot. Throws, pillows, and bedding are also easy ways to incorporate your personal style and make a room feel more cohesive and lived-in. When you're decorating a rented flat, these elements are your best friends. Finally, focus on furniture and personal touches that truly reflect *you*. I’ve found incredible pieces through FB Marketplace finds, which are often budget-friendly and can be given a new lease on life with a little DIY. Plants, photos, and unique collectibles are what transform a generic apartment into a home. These are the details that tell your story and make your rental apartment interior design feel authentic. Decorating when renting is all about making smart choices that enhance your daily life without permanent alterations, allowing you to enjoy your space fully for as long as you're there. It's about showing up for your space and making it feel like it was always meant for you.

Where did you get this back splash for the kitchen from! I’m in LOVE😭
