I wouldnât consider myself a runner. đââď¸đ¨
Yet somehow I just signed up for my second runDisney half marathon, and I have zero regrets⌠I think. đ
My bestie got us into our first one, and honestly, I survived it and possibly enjoyed it? đą
My first runDisney half-marathon, my husband was deployed. I signed up on a whim with my best friend (I convinced her to run the half with me if weâre being honest). This time, itâs a full circle moment, and I get to run with my husband, and I canât wait.
Iâm documenting the whole journey, the training, the food, the costumes, the chaos, and hopefully that finish line moment. If youâre not a runner but have always been curious about runDisney, come along because same. đ°â¨

Signing up for a runDisney half marathon as someone who doesnât consider herself a runner can seem daunting, but trust me, itâs a rewarding experience that goes beyond just the race. One of the most important aspects is the community and atmosphere. From what Iâve experienced, runDisney events are packed with support, motivation, and plenty of fun Disney magic that makes the miles fly by. Training for a half marathon when youâre not a regular runner requires realistic goals and gradual progress. I found that following a beginner-friendly training plan helped me build up endurance without overwhelming myself. Incorporating walking breaks, cross-training, and stretching was key to staying injury-free. Nutrition also plays a critical role. Fueling your body with balanced meals rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats keeps energy levels steady during training and on race day. I documented some of my favorite pre-run meals and snacks that kept me energized. What truly elevates the runDisney experience are the costumes and the crowd support. Dressing up in themed outfits adds excitement and makes the whole event feel festive. Seeing other runners in creative costumes is inspiring and adds to the camaraderie. Lastly, the sense of accomplishment crossing that finish line, especially when sharing the journey with friends or family, is unforgettable. Whether youâre running alone or with your spouse like I am this time, the memories made during training and the event itself become a cherished part of your story. For anyone hesitant about trying a runDisney event, I encourage you to give it a shot. Itâs less about speed and more about the adventure and joy of running in a magical setting. If I, a self-proclaimed non-runner, can do it twice, so can you!
