Real Talk: 9 month postpartum update!

The past 3 months had been about the same as my 6 month postpartum update.. just the same drama 🙄

Finally, since the beginning of my 9 month PP month things have settled down. I still have negative feelings about it, but I do what I have to do FOR MY HUSBAND and that’s it. It’s time to set boundaries and start putting Isabella and our little family!

I can’t believe Isabella is 9 months already! She’s crawling, says dada and mama! She try’s anything you put in front of her! Isabella has tried salmon and cod- LOVED both. She loves broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, Japanese sweet potatoes, butter squash.. omg the list goes on!

She doesn’t want much of purées anymore and wants to pick up her food and feed herself!

People always say time flies, enjoy the moments.. and honestly.. with a baby it does! I feel like I just got home from the hospital with her! Would I go back in time and try to enjoy the moments more.. probably not.. I had 6 months off everyday with Isabella. I’m only working part time and until 3 so I still get to see a lot and spend a lot of time with her! I’m definitely lucky to have the small village I do to help me and a very accommodating job!

9 months postpartum so far has been ok. I still get my times where I’m anxious or I get mad quicker, but I’m working on that and having the support of my husband is extremely helpful!

... Read moreThe postpartum period encompasses physical, emotional, and lifestyle adjustments that mothers experience after childbirth. At 9 months postpartum, many women face continuing challenges such as mood swings, anxiety, and increased emotional sensitivity, commonly linked to hormonal changes and exhaustion from caregiving. Establishing boundaries within the family unit can be crucial for maintaining mental well-being and fostering healthy relationships, especially as one balances personal needs with supporting a partner. Developmentally, a 9-month-old baby like Isabella typically demonstrates significant progress. Milestones often include crawling, babbling simple words like "mama" and "dada," and transitioning from pureed foods to self-feeding finger foods. Introducing a variety of nutritious foods such as salmon, cod, and vegetables supports optimal growth and sensory exploration. Encouraging self-feeding enhances fine motor skills and autonomy, building confidence early on. Support systems play a vital role in postpartum recovery. Having a supportive partner and a reliable "village"—which can include family, friends, childcare providers, and accommodating workplaces—helps mitigate stress and allows mothers to focus on bonding and healing. Part-time work arrangements and flexible schedules can improve the balance between professional responsibilities and caregiving duties. Ultimately, while the postpartum journey varies, embracing the present moments even amid challenges is valuable. Mothers are encouraged to seek emotional resources, healthcare guidance, and share experiences openly to cultivate a nurturing environment for themselves and their families.
