# WorldClassCase Past and Present in One: Returning Life to Hotel Sevilla, Mérida
The introduction of the past as part of the present is at the heart of powerful design. At Hotel Sevilla, the architect chose to keep the original facade and walls from the 19th century in full, so that the layers of time fused into the same texture as modern design.
How I Think Analyzes Architectural Elements:
Coexistence of Eras: Keeping the original wall structure and the vintage façade mask to support the old and the new, not the destruction to rebuild.
Material Symphony: Wood beams, stone floors, wall tiles and frescoes are combined to raise old buildings to the new standard of design.
Spatial Transformation: New Interior Space Management, with Whiteness and Gray as Background (Warm Background) to Drive Highlighting Vertical Garden Greenery and Natural Exposure Passages
Wellness & Tradition: A Wellness area with the application of a Mexican Sauna Room (Temazcal) and Cold Plunge Pool to a Minimalist design.
