Fitness Journey After Gap Year: Let’s Talk
Hey Lemon8 fam! I’m Moses, 19 (almost 20), and I’ve been feeling the post-high school fitness slump.
Back in high school, I was all about track & field—sprinting was my jam.
But during my gap year, I noticed some weight gain and family comments about me getting ‘bigger’ or ‘solid.’
I’ve tried pilates, yoga, at-home cardio, and even fasting, but the internet is full of mixed advice, and I’m left wondering where to start.
Anyone else in the same boat?
How are you tackling this?
Let’s share tips and support each other!
Navigating fitness challenges after a gap year can be overwhelming, especially with the influx of mixed advice on exercise and dieting. To gain structure, consider setting gradual fitness goals, such as committing to a consistent weekly workout schedule. Start tracking your progress using fitness apps that allow you to record workouts, measure weight loss, and celebrate small victories. Joining local classes, whether it’s pilates, yoga, or even group runs, can foster accountability and motivate you. Maintaining a balanced diet is also crucial during this transition. Focus on whole foods, hydration, and perhaps consulting a nutritionist for personalized guidance. Engaging in communities or forums online, just like the #letschat and #newyearnewme tags encourage on Lemon8, can provide support, tips, and shared experiences, making the fitness journey feel less isolating. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection!
