AI In Witchcraft

I see more and more witches turning to AI for tarot pulls, rune readings, “messages from spirit,” or even whole lessons. Let me be blunt: this is not witchcraft. It’s spiritual bypassing dressed up as convenience, and it will rot your practice from the inside out.

Here’s why:

1. It severs your connections.

Witchcraft is built on living relationships with the land, the spirits, your intuition. AI has no spirit. It’s an empty echo chamber. The more you lean on it, the weaker your real connections become.

2. It lies with confidence.

AI generates words that sound true whether they are or not. If you let that replace discernment, you’ll end up swallowing empty air and calling it wisdom.

3. It hijacks your inner voice.

When you mistake generated text for divine communication, you’re inviting confusion between your own intuition, genuine spirit gnosis, and machine noise. That confusion is fertile ground for obsession, paranoia, and in extreme cases, psychosis.

4. It feeds neurodivergent vulnerabilities.

For those of us with ADD, ADHD, or other neurodivergence, AI can become a hyperfixation loop. It can overwhelm the mind with false clarity, pulling you further from grounding, embodiment, and real practice.

5. It destroys reciprocity.

Witchcraft is exchange. You give offerings, you receive blessings. You tend the land, the land tends you. AI can’t enter that circle. It takes, regurgitates, and never gives back.

And this is the bottom line: witchcraft is about relationship with the living. With gods, with ancestors, with the dirt under your feet and the breath in your lungs. AI is the opposite. It is lifeless. Hollow. Dead. To build your practice on it is to step outside the very premise of witchcraft itself. It’s disrespectful, it’s gross, it defeats the premise, and it’s actively killing the earth you’re vowing to protect and honor.

If you root your craft in empty circuits, don’t be surprised when your magic turns to rot too.

... Read moreMy journey into witchcraft has been deeply personal, filled with moments of profound connection and learning. Like many, I'm always curious about the 'latest' tools and insights, but I've come to realize that true spiritual practice thrives on authenticity and living connection, not artificial shortcuts. When I first started exploring, I was drawn to the idea of modern aids, but I quickly understood that some things simply cannot be outsourced to technology. For instance, the art of divination, whether through tarot or runes, is far more than just pattern recognition or generating text. It's about tapping into your intuition, understanding symbolic language, and forming a dialogue with archetypal energies. An astrologist & psychic provides a unique human element – empathy, wisdom gained through experience, and a nuanced understanding that an algorithm simply cannot replicate. These human connections are built on reciprocity, a give and take that strengthens both parties, something an AI cannot participate in. My practice often takes me outdoors, seeking the grounding energy of nature. I find solace and power in a lush forest scene, walking along a winding dirt path beneath tall trees. This direct engagement with the living world is fundamental to my craft. It's where I feel the spirits of the land, gather herbs with respect, and truly understand the interconnectedness of all things. The OCR's mention of a natural, spiritual setting resonates deeply with me, as it captures the essence of what is lost when we turn from the living to the lifeless. Real witchcraft is rooted in the earth, in the breath of life, and in genuine exchange. Learning about the historical context of witchcraft, from places like Salem to ancient traditions, has also reinforced the importance of deep, embodied knowledge. Understanding how to work with powerful natural elements, like certain herbs (even potent ones like baneful belladonna, always with extreme caution and extensive knowledge), requires years of study, respect, and direct experience. This isn't information you can simply pull from an AI, which lacks the discernment, ethical framework, and lived wisdom necessary for such profound interactions. The true power of our craft lies not in the 'latest' technological advancements, but in our lineage, our connection to nature, and our own inner wisdom. To truly build a resilient and meaningful practice, I believe we must prioritize discernment, cultivate our intuition, and seek out genuine connections—whether with mentors, fellow practitioners, or the spirits of the land. It's about putting in the work, honoring the sacred, and truly living your craft, rather than letting empty circuits define your spiritual path.

Tbh I feel like using AI at all is kind of missing the entire point just because it’s so damaging to the environment. IMO, it’s hypocritical to say that you love and respect the earth and feel connected to nature only to turn around and contribute to its destruction.
