We’re a hot mess over here today, trying to clean, but soaking in time with my boy🤍
Managing household chores while spending quality time with loved ones can be quite the balancing act. On a recent Thursday morning, after a long night, I found myself trying to clean up the house but also wanting to fully enjoy moments with my boy. These everyday scenarios—whether it’s tidying up or sharing a snack like cookies—are what make life rich and memorable. Often, parents feel overwhelmed trying to manage both responsibilities and family time. What helps me is embracing the chaos as part of our story rather than striving for perfection. For example, when my son is engaged in something fun or school-related, like playing a game called “Blipp,” it’s important to pause and participate or simply be present. These are the memories that truly matter. Incorporating patience and flexibility into our routines allows us to soak in these precious moments without guilt. The simple act of cleaning doesn’t have to be rushed or done in isolation; it can blend with nurturing bonds, creating a warm, supportive environment for children. So, even on the busiest days, I remind myself that it’s okay to be a “hot mess” sometimes because the love and presence we share far outweigh the mess around us.
