My Review of Cast in shadow

I am so thankful to have been an ARC reader for this book. It pulled me in from the very first chapter at full speed and did not let up! When I tell you I ate this book up, I’m not kidding! I read it in 1 sitting! Even though the book was fast paced you were given all the necessary information & backstory without being left in a lurch or questioning what was happening & why! I absolutely loved the characters! Nguyen has a place in my heart… I love his grumpy overprotective vibe! And Emerson…. He is definitely shadow daddy material! The book was spicy in all the right places & it wasn’t overbearing to the story at all! THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH! I need book 2 like yesterday!

Favorite Quotes:

- “I have been starving for you for over a century. Carrying a need that has consumed me ten-thousand times over. One taste of you will never be enough to quell that hunger.”

- “A tree doesn’t choose the shadows. It grows in darkness because it can do nothing else.”

... Read moreYou know, when I first picked up 'Cast in Shadow,' I wasn't just reading a book; I felt like I was stepping into this whole new world, almost like a shadow-realm was overlaying my own reality. Myka Bound truly casts an incredible atmosphere, a dark and alluring one that just grips you from the first page. It’s not just the literal shadows that Emerson, our sexy possessive demon MMC, commands, but how his very presence casts a shadow over everyone and everything around him. He’s intense, he’s protective, and honestly, he’s the ultimate shadow daddy! His powers aren't just for show; they're integral to the story, creating these moments where you can almost feel the darkness swirling around the characters, influencing every decision and encounter. And our bad ass Witchy FMC? She doesn't just navigate these shadows; she stands her ground, often challenging them, or even using them in her own unique way. The way their magic intertwines, it's like an intricate overlay of power and desire, making their 'enemies to lovers' journey all the more captivating. You see the echoes of their past, a 'second chance' at something profound, and those past hurts definitely cast long shadows over their present, giving their relationship an intense, almost fated feel. It's like the layers of their history overlay their current interactions, adding so much depth. The 'spicy meter' is definitely high, but it always feels earned, enhancing the emotional depth rather than distracting from it. It's not just about physical connection; it’s about the intense emotional overlay between them, the way they challenge and complete each other in the face of immense danger. The plot itself keeps you on the edge, moving so fast that you barely catch your breath. It's like the narrative itself is casting a spell, drawing you deeper into its dark embrace. The world-building, with its intricate lore and shadowy politics, felt so real, almost like a vivid dream overlaying my waking thoughts, even after I put the book down. What struck me most was how the book makes you feel. It casts this unique spell, pulling you into its dark romance and making you root for characters who are flawed yet incredibly compelling. The way Myka Bound crafts the tension and desire, it's a masterclass in building a connection that feels both dangerous and utterly irresistible. And that cliffhanger? Oh my gods, it literally left me feeling like a part of the story was still overlaying my thoughts, demanding more. If you're looking for a dark romance that truly immerses you in its shadowy world, 'Cast in Shadow' by Myka Bound is an absolute must-read. You won't just read it; you'll live within its compelling, shadowy overlay, dreaming of book two.
