Book Review: Sap & Secrets by Daphne Elliot
Sap & Secrets was such a fun, cozy small town romance & honestly a refreshing change from my usual dark, broody, morally gray men. Jasper was such a sweet golden retriever MMC & I really enjoyed his energy throughout the story. The town itself felt lively with a cast of quirky characters, & I loved the little murder mystery subplot woven into everything. The reveal of who did it felt a little anticlimactic for me personally, especially with how much buildup there was leading to it. I also wish I had connected more deeply with the main characters emotionally because it felt like there was a little distance there that kept me from fully investing.
That said, this was still such a lighthearted, easy read with fun banter & cozy vibes that made it a really enjoyable palate cleanser from the darker books I usually gravitate toward. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book in the series at some point because I’d love to revisit the town and characters again.

I read the first two books and thought they were cute. I know the 3rd book is coming, but I am hoping that either Frankie and the cop get together or that the teacher who is in love with the Mayor gets her chance. However, I’m not too sure that’s going to happen the way that his school nemesis was introduced in the last one, I have a feeling it will be her (the nemesis and the mayor).
