As simple as the style is it was very time consuming I had to break it up over 3 days. the 1st day was wash, part, and braid my daughter's hair the 2nd and 3rd day was putting in the bubbles with braiding hair. I used 1 1/2 packs of hair.

If you're anything like me, a busy mom who wants a cute, manageable, and protective style for her little one (or even for yourself!), these are a game-changer. I shared my initial journey, but let me dive a little deeper into some tips and tricks I picked up along the way to make your bubble braid experience even smoother and more satisfying.
One of the biggest questions I get is about getting those voluminous black bubble braids, and the secret really is in the *fake hair*. When I mentioned using 1.5 packs, I wasn't just talking about quantity, but how to integrate it. After washing and braiding your natural hair into cornrows or individual plaits (which makes the base super secure!), you'll start crocheting or feeding in the braiding hair. For each 'bubble' section, attach a generous amount of braiding hair to your natural braid. I found that pre-stretching the braiding hair makes it much easier to work with and gives a smoother, more natural finish. Use a crochet hook to pull the braiding hair through the base of your natural braid, then start wrapping and securing it with those mini rubber bands. Don't be afraid to add more hair for extra fullness – that’s how you get that stunning, voluminous look!
Making these intricate black bubble braids last is key, especially when you've put in the time. To extend the life of this protective style, sleeping with a silk or satin bonnet or scarf is non-negotiable. This prevents frizz and keeps the bubbles neat. You can also lightly moisturize the scalp with a spray oil or light leave-in conditioner every few days, but avoid over-saturating the hair, which can lead to buildup. When it comes to washing, I usually opt for a diluted shampoo spray on the scalp and rinse gently, patting dry rather than rubbing.
And let's talk about styling! The beauty of bubble braids is their versatility. For a special occasion, like the image of the young girl with the white floral headband and tiered dress, you can easily elevate the look with accessories. Gold cuffs woven into the bubbles add a touch of elegance, or you can use colorful hair ties to match outfits. I've seen some amazing looks with vibrant, colorful bubble braids, which are so much fun for summer or holidays. You can also experiment with different parting styles – a deep side part or zig-zag part can completely change the vibe. Don't forget that a cute headband can instantly transform the style, especially if you're trying to hide any frizz around the hairline after a few days.
Finally, about the "time-consuming" part – it's true, it can take a while, but it's totally worth it! Breaking it down into stages, like I did (wash/braid natural hair one day, add bubbles the next), makes it much more manageable. Having all your tools ready – hair gel, plenty of rubber bands, crochet hook, and pre-cut braiding hair – is a lifesaver. And remember, practice makes perfect. The first time might be a marathon, but you'll get faster and more efficient. These black bubble braids are such a rewarding style, offering both protection and undeniable cuteness!
looks amazing.
