Pt 2 of some of my Fav paintings of this year 24’✨

Hey Lemon8 fam! I'm so excited to finally share Part 2 of my absolute favorite paintings I've created this year. It's been such a creative journey, and there’s nothing quite like bringing beloved cartoon characters to life on canvas. Each piece tells a little story, and I pour my heart into every brushstroke. One of the paintings that really sparked joy (and a few chuckles!) was my take on D.W. from Arthur. When I started planning this piece, I couldn't help but think about how iconic D.W. has become, especially with all the hilarious memes out there – you know the 'dw reading meme' and 'dw read meme' that pop up everywhere! While my painting captures her distinct look with her brown fur, short brown hair, and those signature pink ears and dress against a light purple background, I aimed to infuse that same observant, slightly sassy personality she's famous for. It’s amazing how a simple character can inspire so much cultural commentary, and it was a fun challenge to translate that energy into art. Trust me, finding just the right shade of pink for her dress and getting that light purple background just right was a mission! Then there's the one and only Donald Duck! For this piece, I really wanted to capture a playful and somewhat dramatic side. Imagine Donald with heart-shaped eyes and an arrow piercing his head – all set against a vibrant green background. I loved experimenting with his classic blue shirt and adding those large orange wings for a whimsical touch. It's not every day you see Donald quite like that! And speaking of the Duck family, I also had a blast painting Donald's mischievous nephews. I decided to depict them in their Halloween costumes: one dressed as a witch, another as a devil, and the third as a spooky ghost, with a little pumpkin peeking out in the background, all on a lively green canvas. It brought back so many nostalgic memories of trick-or-treating! My creative journey also included bringing Sticky from The Proud Family to life. I really enjoyed working with his distinctive features – the dark skin, that cool black beanie, his blue rectangular glasses, and of course, his vibrant purple jacket. I even chose a unique yellow hexagonal canvas to make him truly stand out. It’s always fun to work on characters that have such a strong visual identity. And who could forget Baby Kronk from Kronk's New Groove? He's just adorable! My painting shows him with his dark hair, a shiny gold headband, and a cute green apron, holding a tray with two perfectly pink cupcakes. The blue background really makes those colors pop and emphasizes his sweet, innocent charm. It reminds me that even the simplest moments can be so visually rich. Each of these pieces was a personal exploration of color, character, and the sheer joy of painting. It's incredible how many different emotions and stories these characters hold, and how they continue to resonate with us, sometimes even inspiring memes that become part of pop culture.
