Budget With Me for August! ✍️💵 ADHD Version

It’s a new month and it’s time to budget and close out July. 📆

I got 3 paychecks this month 🥳 so I have some room to tackle extra bills 💸and start saving for holiday funds. 🎃🦃🎄.

I have ADHD and it’s a struggle being financially responsible sometimes 😆. Automating bills are great to prevent missed payments but I still need to balance the due dates and my paychecks since some bills might be over expected costs ( like this summer’s electricity bill 😭. The AC is worth it tho 🥶)

🧾I don’t automate these bills since it allows me the opportunity to adjust payment dates and keep the cash flow positive. 💲

I keep the cash flow simple:

✍️Incoming funds.

✍️Expenses:

- fixed costs - mortgage, utilities, insurance, streaming services, phone/ internet. ( essentials)

-variable costs: groceries, gas, family outings, coupon fund, thrifting, impulse buys.

✍️Leftover: savings, miscellaneous bills.

👵retirement deductions are automatically deducted so I don’t include in my budget.

💰I have a set exempt salary so the paychecks are always the same ( every other bi-week there is extra $50 technology stipend)

📈 I move extra money to my investments account if there is leftover spending money.

🚗 My cars are paid off so I just have gas and insurance costs.

🛟 Life insurance costs this month is pretty high since 2 policies have quarterly premiums due. Next month will be lower since those 2 policies won’t need payment until November.

📱Phone will be $45 cheaper in September when 3 phones will be paid off. 🧾

Something I do to help me track my bills and spending is having several structures in place.

📖The budget finance planner helps me stay organized and plan out payments from paychecks.

🗓️The post it calendar on the wall provides visuals for me to double check I paid off bills due.

🗂️The folders help me keep older receipts organized for easy reference. ( Tax purposes and proof of purchase )

⭐️Stickers because we want to be fun when tackling adulting tasks 😆

... Read moreManaging finances can be particularly challenging for adults with ADHD, but incorporating efficient budgeting strategies can make a significant difference. Begin by establishing a routine that includes regular financial check-ins to evaluate your budget. Utilizing a budgeting planner can help organize your finances into clear categories, such as fixed and variable expenses. For example, fixed costs may include essentials like mortgage and utilities, while variable expenses may encompass groceries and outings. In addition, consider automating certain payments to ensure you never miss a due date, but balance this with manual tracking. Use tools like calendar reminders or sticky notes to visualize your tasks and due dates effectively. Implementing simple tech solutions, such as budgeting apps, can provide real-time insights into your spending and savings. Furthermore, leverage the benefits of visual aids, such as color-coded folders for receipts and bills. This method not only simplifies organization but also aids in preparing for tax season by ensuring all necessary documents are readily accessible. Maintaining a positive cash flow is essential, so periodically reassess your investments and savings goals to align with your financial aspirations. Finally, don’t hesitate to make budgeting fun with small rewards for reaching savings milestones. Stay motivated and engaged in your financial wellness journey by incorporating personal touches that resonate with your unique lifestyle.
