Welcome to Mt. Kainoa

Hey loves — welcome to Mount Kainoa, the start of something close to my heart. Before we climb too high, a quick note: I’ll also be sharing Ayurvedic and neuro-wellness nibbles, fixins, and everyday practices on Instagram and TikTok if you’d like to be fed more often (in bite-sized ways). For now, I’ll be using this space to share my longer reflections and blog posts until I find a home platform that feels right — I’m open to suggestions if you have any favorites.
Mount Kainoa – Stepping Onto the Path
It was January 2021 when my life shifted. My body had been speaking in a language most people didn’t understand—convulsions that came without warning, dropping me to the ground in seizures doctors couldn’t explain. Because non-epileptic seizures aren’t commonly known, I was misdiagnosed, handed the wrong medications, and judged more often than I was helped. It took fighting—fighting for my diagnosis, for my health, for my very self—before I started finding answers.
That fight led me inward. Yoga gave me my first tools: breath, asanas, and the reminder that healing can be found in stillness. Later, shamanic and somatic work deepened my understanding. And then came Transcendental Meditation, a practice simple enough to carry with me anywhere, yet profound enough to transform how I relate to my nervous system, my stress, and my spirit.
Still, starting this blog feels like its own mountain. I’ve hesitated to share before. Every time I opened a window into my journey, I felt exposed—afraid of showing too much of the soft, messy, vulnerable parts of me that could be judged. Nervous that because I don’t have a neat “cure,” people might dismiss what I have to say. The truth is, my body isn’t perfect. I’m human. I stumble. In fact, just days before writing this, I had my third seizure this month.
But life is a journey. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi once said: “Life is not a struggle, not a tension… life is bliss. It is eternal wisdom, eternal existence.” I’m learning that even in the ups and downs—even on the roller coaster—the light of that bliss is still there.
So here I am, choosing to be seen. Not just the polished parts, but the good, the bad, the ugly, and the sacred lessons in between. My hope is that in sharing the practices that have helped me—yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, breath, and more—others might discover their own medicine too.
Whatever we go through, we can grow through. We can be emblems of hope for each other, sparks of light reminding one another of the glow within. So with that, I invite you to step onto the path with me. Life’s a hike, and together we’ll walk into the great divine.
Sending a big hugs from me to you — heart to heart 🤍
With love,
Aubrey | Mt. Kainoa
