An international couple’s meaningful vow exchange

Mark & Yumi • Singaporean-Indo meets Korean. ♥️

Something so special about their solemnisation - they chose to say their vows in each other’s language. Mark to Yumi in Korean, and Yumi to Mark in Bahasa Indonesia. 🥹

It was so beautiful to hear the effort they put behind their vows, and so touching to witness. Fun fact; it was also my first time being both witness and photographer, what an experience heheh.

Super super happy for you both. 결혼 축하해!! 오래오래 행복하길 바라~ 💫

... Read moreOne of the most memorable aspects of Mark and Yumi’s wedding was their choice to say their vows in each other's languages—Mark spoke in Korean, and Yumi responded in Bahasa Indonesia. This powerful gesture not only deepened the emotional impact but also honored their cultural roots. From personal experience, learning and expressing such vows in a partner’s language adds a profound layer of intimacy to the ceremony. It shows the effort and respect each partner has towards the other’s heritage, often moving everyone present to tears. If you’re planning a multicultural wedding, consider learning your vows in your partner’s native tongue. Even a few heartfelt phrases can bridge gaps and create lasting memories. It’s also a great conversation starter and a beautiful way to celebrate diversity in your union. Photographing this union proved special as well—it was an honor to capture not just the images but the heartfelt emotions surrounding the vow exchange. Such moments remind us how language can be a powerful tool for love and connection across cultures.
