It’s Cypher here with the first of my series, Writer Diaries. this first episode was all about research! I spent a total of 4 and 1/2 hours at the library and I’d say it was a success. I didn’t get a lot of actual writing on the outline, but I expected that since I was still struggling with what I wanted the essence of the story to be about. It took me a while, but I’ve got it figured out now and I’m excited to start outlining the story.

I hadn’t been back to the library in a long while, and I’d forgotten how nice it is to just browse the isles, find old books, and peruse history that you may have never learned about at school.

Hoping to start working on the outline soon, maybe at a different library next time though😅

During my time at the library, I explored various genres, finding books that delve into women’s secret societies prior to the 19th century. While I faced challenges in locating precise materials, the ambiance of the library itself was conducive to creative thought. Libraries often host numerous resources, including academic journals and specialized books that can enrich the writing process. The importance of setting, such as choosing a different library, can significantly impact the brain's functionality and spark new ideas. Furthermore, sharing my journey on platforms like Lemon8 allows for community engagement. Inviting fellow writers to connect and share their experiences enhances our collective growth. Many of you may relate to the struggle of gathering thoughts during research, a sentiment echoed among writers participating in initiatives like Camp NaNoWriMo, where creativity flourishes amid shared goals.
