As a #kid , I used to see my shadow on the street in the #summer days in nyc. No matter how much I tried to run away, it kept following me. I was 14, and suffering from #ocd , social #anxiety in high school and immense #homophobia at Ezra Academy, a #Yeshiva in Queens. I don’t remember the last time I saw my shadow side, because we often forget it when it’s near us because it seeps into our heads or others bad energy trying to bring us down. How many dusty a$$ men, stand around all day, unemployed just being angry to innocent thems, femmes, womxyn Etc. After leaving a transgiving in the Bronx. I put on my winter gear, and noticed my shadow, it didn’t look like me, and I felt I made it in the sense, I have left my internalized side behind.
Growing up as a teen in New York City, battling with mental health challenges like OCD and social anxiety while navigating homophobia is truly a courageous journey.
