Why I Let My Kids Be “Too Much”
Why I Let My Kids Be “Too Much”?
Because the world will try to quiet them—at home, they deserve to be loud.
I have five kids, and honestly, they are naturally very well-behaved. They listen, they follow the rules, and they’re kind to others. But even with all that, they have moments when their energy spills over—when they get loud, wild, or emotional in ways that might seem like “too much” to some.
And here’s the thing: I don’t want to squash those moments. I don’t want to teach them to silence parts of themselves just because it’s easier for the people around them. At home, they have the freedom to express all the fullness of who they are—the messy, loud, beautiful parts that the world might try to quiet.
I want my kids to know their feelings are valid, even when they overwhelm me. I want them to trust that their voices matter, even when it’s hard to listen. Because being “too much” isn’t a flaw—it’s a sign of passion, courage, and the kind of boldness that changes the world.
Yes, freedom means they sometimes cry until they can’t breathe, dance wildly, argue fiercely, or shout with excitement. But it also means they learn how to balance that expression with kindness and respect, because they already have a strong foundation of good behavior.
By letting them be “too much,” I’m teaching them it’s okay to be themselves fully—and that includes the loud, messy parts. I believe that’s how you raise kids who aren’t afraid to stand tall, speak up, and fill the world with color and sound.
So yes, my kids are well-behaved—and yes, sometimes they’re “too much.” And I love every wild, loud, beautiful bit of it.
