... Read moreHey everyone, I've been doing a lot of #biblejournaling lately, and something really profound hit me. We often talk about faith and praying for things to change in our lives, right? We ask God to intervene, to solve our problems, to make things easier for us. It’s natural to want that comfort and relief. But I stumbled upon these incredible words that truly challenged my perspective: "WE TEND TO EXPECT GOD TO MOVE MOUNTAINS FOR US INSTEAD OF WITHIN US..." and "IF YOU KEEP PRAYING FOR CHANGE BUT DON'T SEE ANY, OPEN YOUR HEART TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT YOUR HEART IS WHAT NEEDS CHANGING". Wow. Just wow.
It made me think about what "moving mountains" really means in a spiritual sense. Sometimes, we're looking for an external miracle, like a sudden clearing of obstacles, a perfect "ending" to our struggles. We imagine God physically removing "the mountain between us" and our desires. But what if the biggest mountain, the one that truly needs moving, isn't out there in our circumstances, but right here, within our own hearts?
This isn't always an easy truth to accept. It's often harder to look inward and admit that we might be the ones resisting change, or that our perspective needs shifting. It's about spiritual "survival" in a world that constantly tells us to seek external validation and quick fixes. True faith, I'm learning, often involves a journey of deep, personal transformation. We might pray for patience, but God might present us with situations that test our patience, allowing us to grow it from within. We might pray for peace, and instead of removing all conflict, God might teach us how to find peace amidst the storm, by changing our reaction to it.
Opening your heart to the possibility that your heart is what needs changing can be a vulnerable step. It means surrendering our own ideas of how things "should" be and trusting in God's perfect plan for our character development. What kind of changes are we talking about? It could be letting go of judgment, cultivating more forgiveness, embracing humility, or strengthening our trust when faced with uncertainty. These are the internal "mountains" – our stubbornness, our fears, our pride – that God wants to help us dismantle, piece by piece.
So, how do we actively participate in this work of internal heart change? For me, it starts with prayer, but not just asking God for things. It's about listening, asking Him to reveal the areas where my heart needs His touch. It's diving into #biblequotes and scripture for guidance, finding wisdom that challenges my preconceived notions. It’s also about honest self-reflection and leaning on a #christiancommunity for support and accountability. This journey isn't just about what "heaven will look like" someday, but about cultivating a heart that reflects heaven's values right here, right now. It's about becoming a #christiangirl or #christianwomen who embodies His love and grace from the inside out.
Let's challenge ourselves to stop waiting for external mountains to move, and instead, invite God to do His deep, transformative work within us. When we allow Him to change our hearts, we find a different kind of strength, a truer form of spiritual "survival," and a profound connection that truly moves mountains – the ones that matter most. Amen! 🙏
