Katsumi <3 my m.c is a badass
A comic I'm working on and a quick sketch I did of katsumi post fight, I love how even after her mind is broken and she's on the brink of death, after it's all done, she goes back to her unphased less dramatic ways haha. I think its what makes my m.c stand out a bit is that they aren't overly cheery or overly negative but i like to think I've found a fine balance of good person, but also a cold person who if you're in their way they will demolish you and all that stands with you. I hope people check out what I release as I do.
So, you're curious about Katsumi, huh? It's awesome to see you're digging into the nuances of her character, because honestly, she's one I've poured a lot of thought into! The original post touched on her unique blend of 'good person' and 'cold person who will demolish you,' and I really want to dive deeper into what makes that balance so compelling. When I say Katsumi is 'unphased' even after a brutal fight, it's not just about physical resilience. It's a mental fortitude that allows her to process intense situations without being completely consumed by them. Think about it: many heroes might have a moment of emotional breakdown, but Katsumi quickly recalibrates. This isn't to say she's devoid of feeling, but rather that her emotional responses are often internalized, or expressed in ways that aren't overtly dramatic. This makes her incredibly reliable, but also a bit of an enigma. Her 'demolish you' side isn't just a threat; it's a core aspect of her survival instinct and her moral code, twisted as it might sometimes seem. For Katsumi, if you stand in her way, especially if you threaten something or someone she cares about, there's no hesitation. It’s a primal, almost detached efficiency. This is where that chilling phrase from the OCR comes in: 'BUT I FOUND THE ABYSS I STARE INTO THE ABYSS MATCH COULD NOT MY GAZE.' This isn't just a tough line; it speaks to a profound confrontation. Has she looked into her own capacity for darkness? Has she faced external threats so monstrous that she had to tap into something equally formidable within herself? It implies that her 'cold' nature isn't just a personality quirk, but a consequence of experiences that have hardened her, allowing her to stare down the 'abyss' without flinching, or perhaps even becoming a part of it to fight it. The real challenge and richness of her character lie in how she balances this ruthlessness with being a 'good person.' It's not a switch she flips; it's a constant internal negotiation. What are her boundaries? What defines 'good' for someone who is so capable of extreme action? Perhaps her goodness manifests in protecting the innocent, upholding a personal code of justice, or simply having a deep loyalty to a select few. Her coldness then becomes a shield, a tool, rather than her entire being. It's a pragmatic approach to a harsh world. This complex duality is what I hope resonates with readers. It's about exploring what it truly means to be strong – not just physically, but morally and psychologically – when faced with difficult choices. Does her unflinching gaze into the abyss make her stronger, or does it risk consuming her? That's a journey I'm excited for everyone to follow in her story. I believe characters like Katsumi, who walk such a fine line, offer a deeper, more thought-provoking experience than those who fit neatly into traditional hero or villain archetypes.
