There's something incredibly therapeutic about sitting down with a cup of tea and diving into a new junk journal spread. Especially during the festive season, I find myself reaching for all sorts of bits and bobs to capture the magic. My recent December spreads were all about embracing the holiday spirit, mixing personal memories with charming ephemera. What I love most about junk journaling is that there are no rules. You can literally use *anything*. For my Christmas spreads, I often collect little treasures like receipts from holiday shopping or even the wrapper from a pink gum package I enjoyed while out with friends. These seemingly ordinary items become little time capsules. I remember one spread where I even incorporated a receipt from a local sandwich shop – it instantly brought back memories of that specific day, just like the one from "EL CRIOLLO SANDWICH INC" in one of my recent pages. It's all about making it uniquely *you*. Beyond just the holiday theme, I've been experimenting with different kinds of spreads. Recently, I've been thinking about a 'Vision Board '25' spread to kickstart the new year. Imagine combining inspiring quotes, small photos of goals, and even little mementos from 'girl's date' crafting sessions. It's a wonderful way to blend creativity with personal growth. Adding handwritten notes about "crafting + yapping" with friends makes it feel so authentic and personal. For those just starting out, don't feel intimidated. Begin by gathering items you already have: old cards, magazine cutouts, fabric scraps, or even dried flowers. Stickers are a lifesaver – I adore my Christmas-themed stickers with bells and snowmen for a festive touch, and even a few whimsical Strawberry Shortcake stickers found their way into a spread for a playful vibe. Don't forget photos! Even small, candid shots from your phone can instantly personalize a page. Layering different textures and colors really brings a spread to life. I often use a Grinch-themed background for a bit of cheeky holiday fun, as you might have seen in some of my recent work. Ultimately, junk journal spreads are a beautiful way to document your life, express your creativity, and reflect on your experiences. Whether it's capturing the joy of "Merry Chrismas" with multiple photos of loved ones or simply jotting down thoughts about "Christmas day! Beautiful girlie pop," each spread tells a story. It's not about perfection; it's about the process and the joy of creating something meaningful. So, grab your glue stick, your favorite ephemera, and start making your own unique spreads – you'll be surprised at how much joy it brings!
