It's been a little while since I last shared, but I've been so busy nurturing my plant babies, and I just had to show you all how much they've grown! My Golden Pothos and Tradescantia are absolutely thriving, becoming the lush, vibrant focal points of my living space. It's such a rewarding feeling to watch them flourish, especially after putting in the effort to create the perfect environment for them. For anyone new to the #HouseplantHobby or looking to expand their green family, both Golden Pothos and Tradescantia (often known as Wandering Jew Plant) are fantastic choices. My Golden Pothos, with its stunning variegated leaves, has always been a forgiving plant, but I've noticed a significant boost in its growth and leaf size lately. They love bright, indirect light, and I usually let the top inch or two of soil dry out before watering again. I've even successfully propagated a few cuttings just by placing them in water – it’s so satisfying to see new roots emerge! Then there’s my Tradescantia. Oh, how I adore its trailing vines and unique leaf patterns! It’s a super fast grower, which is incredibly encouraging for a plant parent. I keep mine in a hanging black pot, letting its beautiful foliage cascade down. Just like the Pothos, it appreciates bright, indirect light, but I've found it can tolerate a bit more direct sun without scorching, which helps bring out the deeper colors in its leaves. Regular watering, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy, seems to be the key for this beauty. I also love how easy it is to propagate; a simple snip and stick into moist soil, and you've got a new plant in no time! One of the biggest game-changers for my plants, especially during the darker months, has been investing in a good grow light. As you can see in my setup, I'm using one with red and white LEDs. The red spectrum is fantastic for encouraging flowering and fruiting (though not really for Pothos/Tradescantia, more for overall plant health!), while the white LEDs provide a full spectrum of light essential for photosynthesis and vigorous growth. It’s amazing how much difference consistent, quality light makes. My plants have more vibrant colors and denser foliage since I started using it. It truly helps simulate natural sunlight, especially when you don't have enough bright windows or during winter. Combining these two beauties, Pothos and Tradescantia, in the same hanging black pot has worked wonderfully for me. They have similar light and watering needs, making them great companions. Plus, the contrast in their leaf shapes and growth habits creates such an appealing visual display.
