Strawberry cheesecake ice cream for movie nights 🍓
I’ve been craving a new and fun ice cream flavor for movie nights and I decided to go to central market to pick up two tubs of strawberry cheesecake ice cream! I love that central market sells more local brands so I feel like my money is going back into my community 🥰
Umpqua VS Hudsonville:
Taste
-The Umpqua has a super creamy cheesecake base with a thick, jammy strawberry ribbon that actually tastes like real strawberries, not pink vibes. It leans a little tangier, very dessert-forward, like you’re eating cheesecake that accidentally became ice cream
Hudsonville:
-softer and more balanced. Creamy, smooth cheesecake base with a lighter strawberry swirl that feels more classic and restrained. Less tang, more vanilla
Price
-Umpqua $9.79 for 1.5 quarts
-Hudsonville $6:69 for 1.5 quarts
Rating
-Umpqua- 9/10 I love the strawberry flavor and it really does taste like cheeesecake
-Hudsonville- 8/10 A really close second, very classic to me
Depending on your preferences both are super solid options! Try them out and tell me what you think!
... Read moreWhen it comes to selecting the perfect strawberry cheesecake ice cream for a cozy movie night, it’s great to have options that suit different taste preferences and budgets. Based on my personal experience, both Umpqua and Hudsonville deliver exceptional quality, but for different reasons.
The Umpqua brand, family-owned since 1931, really stands out with its rich, creamy cheesecake base combined with a thick, jammy ribbon of Oregon strawberry sauce. This ribbon tastes like authentic strawberries—not overly sweet or artificial—giving the ice cream a pleasantly tangy, dessert-forward flavor that’s reminiscent of eating actual cheesecake transformed into a frozen treat. Although it is pricier at $9.79 for 1.5 quarts, many who love bold flavors and a little tang find it well worth the splurge.
On the other hand, Hudsonville offers a wonderfully balanced option with its smooth and creamy cheesecake base. The strawberry swirl here is lighter and more classic, featuring a tart strawberry sauce that complements the ice cream without overpowering it. It’s less tangy and has a gentle vanilla presence, making it perfect for those who prefer a softer, more restrained flavor profile. Plus, its lower price of $6.69 per 1.5 quarts makes it an appealing choice for families or casual indulgence.
From my point of view, choosing between these two comes down to whether you enjoy creamy richness with a strong strawberry punch or a more subtle, balanced taste. Both are fantastic for enhancing your movie night experience, adding a sweet, satisfying touch to your event. Plus, buying from local brands like these supports community businesses, which adds a feel-good element to your treat.
If you want to elevate your movie night even more, consider pairing your chosen ice cream with complementary snacks like freshly baked shortbread cookies or a drizzle of balsamic glaze for an extra gourmet twist. Sampling both brands side-by-side can also be fun and helps refine your personal favorite. Either way, strawberry cheesecake ice cream is a deliciously delightful treat for any film evening!
