Violet off to her Forever Home 🏡
Oh my goodness, the day is finally here! For months, it felt like I was constantly repeating that 'Are you home yet?' meme in my head, just waiting for my sweet Violet, our new Doberman puppy, to finally arrive. The anticipation was almost unbearable! If you’ve ever waited for a new furry family member, you know exactly what I mean. It’s a mix of frantic preparation, endless scrolling through puppy photos, and counting down every single minute until pickup day. My journey to bringing Violet home started long before she even came into existence. Researching Dobermans, finding a reputable breeder, and then the agonizing wait after choosing her! During that time, our house underwent a complete 'puppy-fication.' We bought the softest bed, endless chew toys (because Doberman puppies mean serious chewing!), a new crate that looked more like a tiny dog mansion, and, of course, the best puppy food. Every corner felt like it needed to be puppy-proofed, imagining little Violet’s curious nose poking into everything. I even read up on positive reinforcement training, determined to give her the best start. The pickup day itself felt surreal. The car ride there was filled with nervous excitement, a playlist of calm music, and a mental checklist of everything we needed. And then, there she was – a tiny, wriggly bundle of black fur and floppy ears. Holding her for the first time was pure magic. The ride home was surprisingly calm; she curled up on a soft blanket in her carrier, occasionally peeking out with those big, soulful Doberman eyes. It was like she knew she was finally on her way to her forever home. Stepping through the front door with Violet felt like completing a circle. The ‘Are you home yet?’ question had finally been answered! Her first few hours were a whirlwind of cautious exploration, happy tail wags, and a few adorable tumbles. She sniffed every corner, investigated her new toys, and then promptly crashed for a well-deserved nap in her new bed. It’s incredible how quickly a tiny creature can make a house feel so much more like a home. There were moments of overwhelm, of course – the first potty accident, the early morning cries – but they were all part of the beautiful chaos of welcoming a puppy. Even now, with her settled in, that feeling of 'are you home yet?' doesn't completely disappear. It transforms. Now, it's about waiting for her to fully understand this is her space, her family. It's about watching her grow confident, form bonds, and truly blossom. For anyone bringing a new Doberman puppy or any dog into their life, remember to be patient, shower them with love, and create a safe, consistent environment. Every wag of her tail, every happy sigh, confirms that all the waiting was absolutely worth it. This little Doberman has certainly found her forever home, and our hearts are overflowing.
