This Mother's Day hits different this year. Last week, my mom was in a car accident. Getting that phone call, my heart just stopped because I didn't know what it meant. I didn't know if she was okay or how bad it was. Being in the DMV, I didn't even know if I needed to get on a flight back home but wasn't sure when since being a wheelchair user, catching a flight isn't easy. My mind was racing with all the possibilities... even the one I don't want to say.
I'm just so grateful that she's alive and doing okay. I know this healing journey won't be easy and may come with challenges, but I'm thankful she's still with us. And I'm going to make sure she's supported every step of the way.
I'm so grateful for my mom because I always tell people that she's the reason I'm alive. Not just because she gave birth to me, but because of the way she's always poured life into me.
She's reminded me that my disability isn't a mistake or something wrong, but a part of life. Her love has always been the motivation I needed to keep going, especially when life felt uncertain.
God really did Her big one when She gave me such an amazing mother, a true light in this world. ✨ I'm so grateful l get to be her daughter.
Happy Mother's Day to the Queen, to the best mother ever.💕🌸

From personal experience, caregiving and emotional support become essential parts of this journey. Being a wheelchair user myself adds another layer of complexity, especially when considering travel plans to be close to family during a crisis. Accessibility concerns, transportation logistics, and managing appointments all require extra patience and planning.
Throughout this experience, I’ve learned the importance of leaning on community and accessible resources, whether it’s medical support or emotional outreach groups. Mothers often embody resilience and unconditional love, which can inspire us to find strength even in our most vulnerable moments. Reflecting on her role, it’s powerful to remember how a mother’s encouragement helps redefine views on disability, emphasizing that it is not a limitation but a part of one’s unique life journey.
Acknowledging gratitude every day, not just on special occasions, fosters a mindset of hope and healing. Sharing stories like this can encourage others going through similar experiences to recognize their own strength and the invaluable support systems around them. Each Mother’s Day becomes a reminder of the enduring bond that motivates us to keep moving forward, celebrating love beyond any circumstance.
