How to Prevent Acne from Coming Back?

First, it’s crucial to focus on your daily habits and diet. Include more vitamin-rich vegetables in your meals, and avoid salty, spicy, and sugary foods. Drink plenty of water and develop a regular sleep schedule—never stay up late! Otherwise, you’ll end up with stubborn acne like I did, especially on your forehead and cheeks 📈. When I first noticed acne forming, I used anti-inflammatory ointments from the pharmacy. While they would suppress the pimples, they still left dark marks over time. Eventually, the ointments stopped working!

1️⃣ Toss Out Products That Don’t Suit Your Skin‼️

Acne is a chronic inflammation of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands, so proper face cleansing is essential. You should do a deep cleansing at least twice a week. Choose a mild amino acid-based facial cleanser. If you wear makeup, make sure to remove it completely! Avoid essential oils in skincare products, as they can clog pores and trigger breakouts. (I usually go makeup-free, wash my face with water most of the time, and use hyaluronic acid and face masks occasionally.)

2️⃣ Focus on Hydration‼️

Skin problems often stem from dehydration, so choose hydrating and moisturizing masks. Other treatments can be skipped for now 🌚.

3️⃣ How to Fade Acne Marks‼️

Acne marks come in different types. Red marks are caused by inflammation after the pimple heals, and they occur because of expanded capillaries. These can be easily treated with thick layers of acne ointment, which will help fade them within a week or so.👉🏿 Black marks are the result of inflammation and poor aftercare, leading to pigmentation. If you don’t take care of sun protection, they’ll turn into dark spots. Use acne ointment with thick layers and moisturizing treatments for about two weeks to significantly fade these marks and brighten your complexion. For more severe indentations (what we call acne scars) or hypertrophic scars (common in scar-prone skin), the repair process takes longer and needs gradual care 🤭.

4️⃣ Exercise More and Boost Your Metabolism

A good metabolism helps acne marks disappear faster 🉐️! Keep your mood light and happy to help your skin heal. 😁

Important Reminder⚠️: Never pick at your acne! Picking can damage the skin’s surface and impair its healing ability, resulting in deeper scars. Treating acne scars with ointment takes longer, so persistence is key to getting clear skin!

Start by examining your daily habits; inadequate sleep, poor dietary choices, and not drinking enough water can exacerbate acne. Low-sugar diets and the inclusion of anti-inflammatory foods, such as turmeric, can significantly enhance skin health. Keep your skincare routine simple yet effective by using gentle cleansers and hydrating masks to maintain skin moisture and resilience. Exercise plays a pivotal role, as it boosts metabolism and promotes good circulation, helping to eliminate toxins from the body. Aim for regular workouts, which also elevate your mood and reduce stress—factors known to influence skin health. Importantly, never pick at your acne, as this can cause further inflammation and scarring. Instead, focus on consistent care with topical treatments designed to reduce inflammation and promote healing. By following these guidelines, you can create a robust defense against stubborn acne and increase your chances of maintaining clear skin for the long term.
