... Read moreOh, mama, I totally get it! Those days when you wake up feeling like a balloon, and the thought of finding time or energy to workout seems utterly impossible? Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt! For so long, I struggled with feeling constantly bloated and just couldn't squeeze in a proper exercise routine. That's why I absolutely fell in love with the idea of doing quick, effective moves right from my bed. It’s a game-changer, especially during the postpartum journey when every minute counts and your body needs gentle care. While that 2-minute combo is fantastic for a quick boost, sometimes you want a little more variety or a few extra minutes to ease into your day. So, I’ve put together 7 super easy exercises you can do without even leaving your mattress! These are perfect for those mornings when you're short on time but still want to feel like you've moved your body, helped ease that bloated feeling, and gently woken up your muscles. Remember to go at your own pace and listen to your body, especially if you're postpartum. Here are my go-to 7 bed exercises: Pelvic Tilts: Lie on your back with knees bent, feet flat on the bed. Gently press your lower back into the mattress, tilting your pelvis up slightly, then release. This is amazing for core stability and can help with back pain. Do 10-15 reps. Glute Bridges: From the same position, lift your hips off the bed until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees. Squeeze your glutes at the top. Great for strengthening your glutes and hamstrings. Aim for 10-12 reps. Single Leg Lifts: Lying on your side, stack your hips and legs. Keeping your top leg straight, lift it towards the ceiling, then slowly lower. Repeat 10-15 times per side. This works your outer thighs and hips. Clamshells: Still on your side with knees bent, keep your feet together and open your top knee like a clamshell. Don't let your hips roll back. Fantastic for hip strength and stability, crucial for postpartum recovery. Do 10-15 reps per side. Heel Slides (or gentle crunches if cleared): Lie on your back, knees bent. Slowly slide one heel away from you, straightening your leg, then slide it back in. Alternate legs. This is a gentle core activation and hip flexor stretch. For those feeling stronger, a gentle crunch lifting only your head and shoulders can work too, but always be cautious postpartum. Do 10-12 reps per leg. Arm Circles: Sit up comfortably in bed, perhaps cross-legged. Extend your arms out to the sides and make small circles forward, then backward. This helps warm up your shoulders and upper back, often neglected areas for busy parents. Do 11-15 circles in each direction. Gentle Spinal Twists: Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat. Let your knees gently fall to one side, keeping your shoulders grounded. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides. This is a wonderful, gentle stretch for your spine and can help release tension. Incorporating even a few of these into your morning routine can make a huge difference. It’s not about intense workouts, but about consistency and showing yourself a little self-care. It truly helps combat that sluggish, bloated feeling and gives you a little burst of energy to tackle whatever the day throws at you. You deserve to feel good, even if it's just for a few minutes in bed!
