🎬 Introduction / Introduction
The Exorcist: Believer (2023), directed by David Gordon Green, was co-written with Peter Sattler, using story ideas from Scott Teems, Danny McBride and Green himself.
The movie was placed as a "direct" sequel to The Exorcist (1973), barely ignoring any other sequel ever.
The main plot is Victor (Leslie Odom Jr.) and daughter Angela, who disappear with a female friend named Katherine after a séance in the woods. Both children are brought back in a state of disorder and begin to have paranormal symptoms intervening violently in family life.
The point many look forward to is the return of Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil, the original character from the 1973 movie.

✅ The strength of leather.
1.Atmosphere / Terror Building (Tone) / Audio Visual Techniques
The movie tries to create gradual tension; the early "slow burn" block helps the audience feel more and more apprehensive.
Makeup effects, sounds, and the use of dark-shadows are considered to pass the exam - not even to shock anything new, but to have a range of "goosebumps."
2.Acting / character
Leslie Odom Jr. played Victor well - taking shots of both weakness, confusion and suffering from loss and shaky beliefs.
Some minor characters, such as Ann (Neighbor / Nurse), have poke lines, and some perform well.
Ellen Burstyn, despite returning as a "big name," has instead been criticized for not being fully available; and as a chapter that doesn't stand a chance to show much potential.
3. Mixed ideas, many aspects of religion / belief
The movie tries not to be limited to Roman Catholic Christianity, but other religions, local beliefs, and the idea of a "gathering of multiple religions" are mixed in the demon-subduing theme.
Despite some seeing it as "superficial" or "not profound enough," in one aspect it is an attempt to create a new dimension to the traditional ghost-Christian movie genre.

The Exorcist: Believer is a movie that isn't bad - in terms of creating an atmosphere, performing with intentions, and trying to adopt a new approach - but it's not even outstanding, especially when compared to the legend of The Exorcist.
If you're a ghost-Christ thong willing to accept "something new in the original frame," you might enjoy the opening phase and gradually revealing the mystery of the movie, but if you're hoping to see a movie that "flips the world" or "fills the Exorcist universe" - you might be somewhat disappointed.
In a nutshell, Believer suits people who want to experience a haunting atmosphere, want to see a contemporary Christian ghost movie, but if they expect too much, they may experience a broken dream.
