Salary Human Tax Thailand vs Malaysia

# Recap 2025We announced our resignation in Thailand before the end of the year, after almost 7 years of work, because we offered a job in Malaysia (actually released on January 2026).

Thai friends working in Thailand can plan taxes through the app.IaxYeah.

"" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "Income Tax Malaysia" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "

Human taxes, Thailand's salary is high. Found a Malaysian tax.

For friends who have been offered to work in Malaysia, remember to study the income tax of working people in Malay first.

Since we have just offered work in Malaysia, we have to do a lot of homework on a proper base salary, and one of the relevant factors is personal income tax, which we have just discovered that in Thailand we pay very little after tax.

The figure we calculated was 1,000,000 baht per year in Thailand, compared to 130,000 MYR per year in Malé.

👉👉, which may have life style bias, but we calculate taxes in Thailand based on this data.

• 100,000 baht (Malé does not have this)

• Personal deduction 60,000 Baht

• Home Interest 100,000 Baht (Max)

• Life insurance accumulates 100,000 baht (up to the maximum, will stop buying for another 2 years), but the insurance combined with the fund is hundreds of thousands more deductible, but no more money to buy.

• Social Security 9,000 Baht

• Provident Fund 40,000 Baht

• It's a rough calculation, so it doesn't include other state tax cut programs.

Calculate the tax with the itax app to get the tax payable per year = 41,150 baht / year or 3,430 baht / month (on the step of the top 15% tax base).

👉👉 but if we calculate the tax on revenue of 130,000 MYR per year, equivalent to 1 million baht, there will be a deductible as follows: with a rate of 7.7 THB = 1 MYR.

• Personal Relief 9,000 MYR (~ 69,300 THB) is the same as Thailand.

• EPF (Provident Fund) 4,000 MYR (~ 30,800 THB) This is max.

• Life Insurance / Additional EPF 3,000 MYR (23,100 THB)

• Spouse (Husband / Wife, Non-Functional) 4,000 MYR

• Life Style (Compared to Thai, shop, good night) 2,500 MYR (~ 19,250 THB)

• Social Security 350 MYR (~ 2,695 THB)

Summary: ~ 12,470 MYR / year = ~ 96,000 thb / year = ~ 8,000 baht per month 🥹, twice more than in Thailand (up to 25%)

Reference Malaysia Tax Steps

Money range Rate

0 - 5,000 0%

5,001 - 20,000 1%

20,001 - 35,000 3%

35,001 - 50,000 6%

50,001 - 70,000 11%

70,001 - 100,000 19%

100,001 - 400,000 25%

If you calculate the different income, you will see that you have to pay an additional tax of 10,000 to 20,000 ฿/ month.

In fact, this is no obstacle, just consider a round to the right base of salary in Malé if you have to accept the offer.

This deductible condition is that you have to stay in Malé for more than 183 days / year. Below this, you may be subject to a 30% flat rate tax.
