Zion National Park | Emerald Pools Hike

Zion National Park, known for its breathtaking landscapes, offers the Emerald Pools hike as an essential experience for nature lovers. This moderate hike showcases three distinct pools: the Lower, Middle, and Upper Emerald Pools. While the Lower Emerald Pool is currently closed due to safety hazards from falling ice and rocks, hikers can still access the Middle Emerald Pool with a 2.2-mile round trip route and the Upper Emerald Pool at a distance of 3 miles round trip. The trail can be a bit muddy, especially after rain, so proper footwear is recommended. Currently, access to the main trail involves detours—crossing the river via the Sand Bench trail or the Kayenta trail from the Grotto. As you hike, be prepared to encounter stunning cliffs and a diverse range of flora. Although conditions may change and some areas become closed, planning ahead will ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience.
