Why?
Tonight, I found myself reading about the different spiritual beliefs surrounding one of humanity’s oldest questions:
If there is a God, why do bad things happen?
And if angels hear our prayers, why aren’t our loved ones always healed?
For me, this question has never come from a lack of belief.
In my own experiences, I have felt Spirit. I have had experiences that have strengthened my faith and convinced me that love continues beyond this life.
So my struggle has never really been, “Is any of this real?”
My struggle has been understanding hardship.
Understanding illness.
Understanding suffering.
Understanding why the people we love sometimes have to walk through painful experiences despite all the prayers, hope, and love surrounding them.
Tonight, I learned that different spiritual traditions have different answers.
Some believe suffering is part of free will.
Some believe our souls are here to learn and grow.
Some believe we simply cannot understand the bigger picture while we are living it.
And some believe that God and the angels don’t always remove the storm—but they help carry us through it.
Truthfully, I don’t know that I have all the answers.
Maybe I never will.
But I don’t think asking difficult questions makes us less spiritual.
I think sometimes the deepest faith is found not in having every answer, but in continuing to love, hope, pray, and trust even when we don’t understand.
🤍 If you’ve ever wrestled with these questions too, please know you are not alone.
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
What beliefs, experiences, or perspectives have helped you make peace with life’s difficult moments?
Do you believe angels intervene, or do you feel they support us in different ways?
There are no right or wrong answers here—I’m simply curious about how others view these big questions.
