5 course Japanese dining experience by the river

Tucked along the riverside at Clarke Quay, went to Tomo Tokyo for their 5 course dining experience and honestly quite enjoyed the cosy modern Japanese vibe here.

The set came with Fresh Oysters, Ikura Uni Chawanmushi, Kanpachi Goma, Duck Fat Chips and their special Tomo Bara Chirashi which is only available as part of this dining experience.

The Tomo Bara Chirashi was probably my favourite from the set with different seafood over premium sushi rice served on a long plate instead of the usual bowl. Overall a pleasant and balanced lunch without feeling too heavy by the end.

Tomo Tokyo
5/12 Edited to

... Read moreDining at Tomo Tokyo along the serene Clarke Quay riverside offers not just a meal but an immersive Japanese culinary journey. The ambience strikes a balance between modern coziness and subtle traditional Japanese elements, making it an ideal spot for both casual outings and special occasions. What truly sets this 5-course dining apart is the thoughtful curation of dishes that bring out diverse textures and tastes. Fresh oysters open the meal with a briny freshness that awakens the palate. The Ikura Uni Chawanmushi blends silky egg custard with the rich umami of sea urchin and salmon roe, showcasing delicate layering of flavors rarely found in typical chawanmushi. Kanpachi Goma offers a fresh fish course balanced with a nutty sesame dressing, while the Duck Fat Chips provide an unexpected yet delightful twist with their crispiness and savory depth. The highlight is undoubtedly the Tomo Bara Chirashi – unlike conventional chirashi served in bowls, this version is elegantly presented on a long plate, featuring assorted premium seafood atop perfectly seasoned sushi rice. This presentation enhances the dining experience by allowing diners to appreciate each ingredient individually and in combination. From personal experience, the portion sizes create a satisfying yet light dining experience without leaving you overly full. The flow of courses thoughtfully alternates between textures and flavors, keeping each bite exciting. Additionally, Tomo Tokyo’s location at 2A River Valley Road makes it convenient for those exploring the vibrant Clarke Quay district. Whether visiting for lunch between 12pm-3pm or dinner from 5pm-11pm, the restaurant offers welcoming service and an inviting atmosphere. For sushi enthusiasts and fans of authentic Japanese cuisine, this 5-course experience is a wonderful way to indulge in quality ingredients and creative presentations. Sharing this meal with friends or loved ones by the riverside adds to the memorable dining occasion.

Not kidding — S$24 for an Omakase-level experience
Tried their lunch set and the whole table was filled like a mini feast. Can’t believe S$24 per pax can feel this premium ✨ 💡 Highlights: • Vibes: Super cozy Japanese izakaya feel — wooden interiors, counter grill, and there’s literally no cashier. It feels like a place only regulars know about.
