Not kidding — S$24 for an Omakase-level experience

Tried their lunch set and the whole table was filled like a mini feast. Can’t believe S$24 per pax can feel this premium ✨

💡 Highlights:

• Vibes: Super cozy Japanese izakaya feel — wooden interiors, counter grill, and there’s literally no cashier. It feels like a place only regulars know about.

• Food experience: Every dish looks so photogenic you have to take photos. From the small appetizers to the grilled salted fish, everything was layered, flavorful, and surprisingly refined for the price.

• For just S$24, it felt luxurious and genuinely satisfying.

• Even the drinks in the set were thoughtful — they serve two types of Umacha iced tea! Loved the peach tea that came the second round, so refreshing 🍑✨

🍲 Who will love this:

• Fans of Japanese izakaya vibes

• Anyone craving something refined without breaking the bank

• Perfect for photos, chill lunch dates, or a quiet solo meal

• Added on their squid sausage — unexpectedly amazing!

• Natto was average, chicken karaage was decent

📍 Tips:

• Lunch sets sell out fast — go early

• Great for slow, cozy dining

• Reservation required on their website! Lunch set is available Mon–Sat

... Read moreIf you're aiming to replicate an omakase experience on a budget, trying lunch sets like this one is a great start. The key highlight is the irori-slow-grilled fish selection, which includes fresh options such as Hokkaido sardine (いわし蒲焼き), Aomori salmon, and teriyaki yellowtail collar. Each fish is prepared with traditional techniques that bring out rich umami flavors. One of my favorite touches at this restaurant is how the dishes come carefully layered with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to elevate the taste beyond typical lunch menus. I also appreciate the attention to detail in their side dishes—while the natto may be average, the grilled squid sausage adds an unexpectedly delicious smoky depth. Seating is intimate with a communal teppan grill counter, encouraging a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of a local izakaya where regulars gather. The absence of a cashier and reservation system adds to the charm but means you need to book early as lunch sets sell out quickly. Lastly, the inclusion of two types of Umacha iced tea, including a peach-infused brew, perfectly complements the meal without overpowering the delicate fish flavors. As a fan of Japanese cuisine, I find this lunch set a balanced, satisfying choice for anyone wanting to enjoy quality Japanese fare without visiting an expensive omakase restaurant.

Value for money omakase!
🤩 $115 for 11 courses, premium ingredients like Hokkaido Oysters, A5 Wagyu, Uni, and fresh sashimi is really value for money. Local chef, non-traditional hole in the wall spot. Definitely better than average for this price range, and would recommend the restaurant to non-Japanese food snobs!

Wallet-friendly Taiwanese Omakase found at SG🇸🇬
Last week, I brought my wife to try something we’ve never experienced before — a Taiwanese Omakase Teppanyaki place called “MinSuiZen Raku”, located inside Frasers Tower. It’s from a well-known F&B group in Taiwan, under the “MeatMore Group”, known for their premium teppanyaki omakase. V

New Omakase in JB!!
Thought it was gonna be one of those “just for the vibe” omakase places, but this one was actually solid. The whole experience felt really comfortable, not too formal, not too overwhelming. Every dish felt well thought out, and the pacing of the course was just nice from start to finish.
