NC, specifically Chappel Hill, Durham, Asheville are very special to me. They’re so full of life and color and the people here are really nice and kind. They’re also LGBT friendly in these little bubbles and I haven’t been in a place where we’re accepted so lovingly. My partner and I have been trying to move up here since 2020 but with no luck we’re still stuck in FL.
I have family ties here that go back generations, my great great grandmother Lusk, being Cherokee.
This is my home away from home, where I can be wild and free. I can fully take on my gremlin mode in these mountains and still feel my ancestors all around me cheering me on because I know they were not allowed to have fun or be themselves in previous life times.
I’m also here being supported by my best friend as I go through a medically needed surgical abortion. Last time I was pregnant with my son I became so malnourished due to morning sickness I dropped below 90 lbs. And the same thing is happening again except my fainting and dizzy spells are worse while malnourished.
It’s been a really rough couple of days and I’m still grieving my unborn child. I didn’t want to have to do this but I can barely be there for my sun fully present most days due to pain or exhaustion and he deserves better. My unborn child deserves better. I love them so much and now with them gone I feel empty.
