Breaking free from bad habits is a challenge many of us face daily. From procrastination to unhealthy lifestyle choices, these habits often stem from unconscious triggers or comfort zones. One effective way to overcome them is by first acknowledging the behavior as a problem and consciously committing to change, which aligns with the idea of 'Niéguenlo' — or denying the behavior's justification. In my personal journey, I realized that simply resolving to stop was not enough. Instead, I started to track the circumstances that prompted the behavior—whether stress, boredom, or social situations—and gradually introduced healthier alternatives. For instance, when I noticed a tendency to snack mindlessly, I replaced unhealthy snacks with fruits and nuts, which satisfied cravings without guilt. Moreover, setting small, achievable goals helped maintain momentum. Celebrating incremental successes kept me motivated even during setbacks. It’s important to be patient with yourself; habits ingrained over years won’t disappear overnight, but consistent effort leads to progress. Lastly, surrounding yourself with supportive people or communities can make a huge difference. Sharing your goals and experiences creates accountability and offers encouragement. Remember, bad habits can be unlearned, and with determination, you can replace them with habits that contribute to your well-being.
