Dichromats have only two types of cones, limiting their color perception. Interestingly, about 25% of the population falls into this category, including many dogs. This type of vision often leads to a preference for clothing in black, beige, and blue tones, possibly due to how these colors appear more consistent and clear. On the higher end are tetrachromats, who have four types of cones and can see a broader range of colors, sometimes including hues invisible to others. This rare trait, present in about 25% of the population, might cause sensitivity to certain colors like yellow. Many tetrachromats experience color in a more vivid and complex way, allowing them to appreciate subtle color variations others might miss. From personal experience, learning about my own color vision type helped me appreciate the nuances of how individuals perceive the world differently. It also changed how I choose colors in art and design, understanding that others might see things in a way I cannot.
