As someone who loves Star Wars but doesn’t obsess over every piece of lore, I often find myself caught between two worlds — true enthusiasm and not being a trivia master. It’s okay not to have watched or read every Star Wars story out there. Fandom can be as broad or as deep as you want it to be. For me, the joy comes from appreciating the characters and the creativity within the universe, like Twi'leks with their distinct lekku or the vibrant culture showcased in rebel cons. Many people feel pressured to know every detail and become completionists, but that pressure can sometimes make the fandom less enjoyable. I prefer to engage with Star Wars through cosplay, especially hijab cosplay, which allows me to connect with the fandom while expressing my own identity. It’s a way to celebrate diversity and inclusion within the Star Wars community without needing to be an IP completionist. In sharing this perspective, I hope other fans who feel intimidated or left out understand that being a fan is about what makes you happy. Whether it’s a deep dive into Star Wars trivia or just enjoying episodes and characters casually, there’s space for everyone.
