The rule is to only touch the laundry once.
I tried this technique with my toddler. I took the bag that I would normally fold in the living #room directly to his room. Instead of #folding I had him throw the clean #clothes in it’s correct drawer.
It’s not perfect but the clothes are put away 🥰

Trying the One Touch Rule has truly transformed my approach to laundry, especially with young kids around. Instead of the usual multiple steps of folding and sorting in one place, I brought the laundry directly to the child’s room in a bag and let them put the clothes away themselves. This not only saves time but also encourages toddlers to participate and learn responsibility. While it's not perfect—sometimes socks or small items get misplaced—the clothes end up in their designated drawers quicker than before. It's a worthwhile compromise for busy parents juggling work and household duties. Plus, it turns laundry time into a bonding activity rather than a chore. Another benefit I noticed is a significant reduction in laundry clutter around common areas like the living room. By heading straight to the child’s room, the mess and folding pileups are minimized. For households with multiple kids, labeling drawers or using color-coded bins can make this hack even more effective. If you’re hesitant about handing over this task to a toddler, start with larger items like t-shirts or pants and supervise initially. Over time, kids enjoy having a role in household chores, boosting their confidence and organizational skills. Overall, applying the One Touch Rule aligns well with my goals of efficient household management and involving my child in a meaningful way. It’s an easy, practical #laundryhack worth sharing with other parents looking to streamline their routines.
