Things that I hate about lemon8
I have hope to see change & find more authentic goth content on here that isn’t capitalizing off the subculture & misinforming people especially people who are genuinely interested on learning more about the subculture.

In recent discussions about social media platforms, the representation of alternative subcultures like goth has garnered significant attention. Many users express frustration over how platforms, including Lemon8, often showcase content that misunderstands or misrepresents these communities. One primary concern is the prevalent promotion of fast fashion brands, such as Shein and Romwe, in posts tagged with goth or alternative labels. Critics argue that these brands contradict the very essence of what it means to be goth. The reliance on these fast fashion outlets not only commodifies the subculture but also undermines its values, such as individuality and resistance to mainstream consumerism. Additionally, many posts titled "goth room inspo" fail to capture the true spirit of the goth aesthetic, often featuring rooms devoid of key elements like authentic decor, music posters, or DIY touches that resonate with the community's roots. These representations dilute the meaning of being part of a subculture, reducing it to mere aesthetics. To foster a more authentic goth presence online, it's crucial for creators and consumers alike to advocate for genuine representation and to educate others about the culture's history and significance. Encouraging more in-depth discussions and sharing authentic content will create a space where the true essence of goth can thrive, helping to connect individuals who share a genuine interest in this rich and multifaceted subculture.
