Dirty bombs are generally not deadly

Unlike nuclear bombs, which release massive destructive energy from nuclear fission or fusion, dirty bombs rely on conventional explosives to disperse radioactive dust or particles. The fear surrounding dirty bombs largely comes from the public's anxiety about radiation exposure. However, from a scientific standpoint, the radiation dose from a typical dirty bomb is often diluted over a wide area, reducing its toxicity and immediate health risk.
