... Read moreOh my goodness, I just had to share some of my recent Pokémon artwork with you all! If you know me, you know my absolute favorite Pokémon is Shaymin. There's just something so endearing about its innocent charm and its two distinct forms. I spent so much time trying to capture that cuteness in my drawings, and I'm really happy with how these turned out!
You can see I've drawn Shaymin in both its serene Land Forme and its majestic Sky Forme. For the first piece, I really wanted to show the gentle side of both forms cuddling together on a soft green background with those lovely floral accents. It just felt right to depict them in a peaceful, loving embrace. Then, for the Sky Forme, I wanted to show a bit more personality! That 'Silly' arrow pointing to it really captures the playful spirit I imagine Shaymin Sky Forme has when it's zooming through the air. It was so much fun to draw its little leg up, almost dancing!
While Shaymin holds a special place in my heart, I also love drawing other Pokémon! You might have spotted some of my other works. I recently challenged myself with Charizard, trying out two different versions. One is the classic orange Charizard with those iconic blue wings and a fiery tail, really popping against a warm orange background. The other was a super cool shiny grey Charizard, giving it a more unique, powerful vibe with its red wings, contrasted against a cooler grey backdrop. It's always a blast experimenting with color palettes for different Pokémon.
And who could forget Blissey? That cheerful pink Pokémon with its sweet little wings and the egg in its pouch always brings a smile to my face. I aimed to capture that pure joy and warmth in my illustration, setting it against a soft yellow background to enhance its happy demeanor. Drawing Blissey always feels like drawing a hug!
Creating these illustrations is such a passion project for me. It's not just about replicating the Pokémon, but about bringing my own interpretation and love for them to life on the canvas (or digital canvas!). My process usually starts with sketching out the poses, then moving on to line art, and finally, layering colors to give them depth. I find it so rewarding to see them come to life.
If you're an aspiring artist like me, don't be afraid to experiment with different styles and Pokémon! Think about what emotions or stories you want to convey. It's all about enjoying the creative journey. What Pokémon do you love to draw, or which one inspires you the most? I'd love to hear in the comments!
