Tattoos I want and why

1. The word always. I drew it myself. I was going through a lot, just lost my grandma, and nothing was going right. For some reason I’ve loved the saying “always and forever” or “forever and always”. I also wanted to reference Harry Potter but without doing so. Something said is “After all this time?” “Always.” I decided to take that and give it more meaning, so I added always because your heart is always there until the end.

2. A bleeding rose. Roses are beautiful, but they are much more than beauty. Something many roses have are thorns. Thorns cut and make you bleed. Although you may bleed it doesn’t make you love them less. The same could be said about my family.

3. A broken butterfly. Since I got a spider tattoo for me, I want the butterfly for my parents. No matter what I feel they are always out of my grasp. I want a broken butterfly because I want to overcome the hill I’m stuck on with my parents.

4. A fly. I asked my boyfriend what I should also get with my spider and he told me a fly. If we last ill add him to my family and the fly will be with everyone else.

5. A ladybug. My sibling born 4 years before me picked it. I ofcourse made them pick something I was okay with having on my body.

6. A bee. For some reason when I think of my sister, I think of bees. Everytime I see a bee, I think of her.

7. A beetle or wasp. My brother gave me 2 options, but I’m leaning more towards the wasp.

8. A mantis. I like them and think they are cool. They kinda remind me of my father because my whole life although he was there it felt like he wasn’t. He has acted like he was living with his head somewhere else.

9. Possibly a dragonfly. I like dragonflies and think they are cool, but is that a good enough reason for me to get it. We will find out one day.

This is all I can think about rn. I know there are more. I might make another part of this at a later day either updating the pictures with my own or adding more tattoos I want. Also I don’t know if you’ve noticed but all of my tattoos have to have a heart somewhere within them, this is because everything I do is with my heart and a heart will be included.

... Read moreSince sharing my initial tattoo ideas, I've had so many thoughts about how truly personal and profound these choices are. It’s not just about getting ink; it’s about etching a part of your soul onto your skin, a permanent reminder of life’s journey, its joys, and its struggles. I wanted to dive a bit deeper into some of the themes that resonate most with me, especially for those of you also looking for genuinely meaningful tattoos. One design that keeps coming up in my mind, and truly encapsulates a big part of my journey, is the broken butterfly. When I first thought of it for my parents, it was about feeling like they were just out of reach, like I was stuck on a hill with our relationship. But a broken butterfly isn't just about damage; it's about transformation despite adversity. It’s about the beauty that can emerge even when things feel shattered. For me, it symbolizes hope – the hope that even with past hurts or misunderstandings, there's always potential for healing and growth. It's a powerful reminder that even delicate things can endure and find new strength. If you're looking for a tattoo that speaks to overcoming challenges or navigating complex family dynamics, a broken or damaged butterfly, perhaps with a subtle heart element integrated into its wings, can be incredibly profound. It's a visual metaphor for carrying your past wounds while still striving for beauty and freedom. Then there's the ladybug. This one has such a sweet, yet deeply sentimental meaning for me, especially when thinking about loved ones who are no longer with us. Many cultures see ladybugs as symbols of good luck, protection, or even a visitation from a departed spirit. For me, connecting it to a sibling born before me, it's a tender way to carry their memory, a little piece of them always with me. If you’ve lost someone dear and are seeking a tattoo to honor their memory, a spiritual meaningful ladybug tattoo can be a beautiful choice. Imagining those spots subtly shaped like hearts, as I planned, makes it even more personal – a small, constant beat of love. It’s a gentle nod to remembrance, a quiet comfort that their spirit is still around, bringing a touch of grace and warmth. And speaking of hearts, you might have noticed my rule: every tattoo has to have a heart somewhere within it. This isn't just a design preference; it's my personal philosophy. Everything I do, every decision I make, comes from the heart. It’s about leading with love, empathy, and passion. Whether it’s subtly woven into the intricate details of a spider tattoo for myself, or integrated into the word “Always” to honor my grandma’s memory, the heart signifies that these tattoos aren't just pretty pictures. They are deeply felt emotions, life lessons, and connections. It reminds me that even when things are tough, like losing someone you love, or dealing with a parent who feels distant, my core remains filled with love and warmth. For anyone else embarking on their own tattoo journey, my biggest piece of advice is to really sit with your ideas. Don't rush. Think about what truly resonates with *you*. Is it a symbol of resilience, like a mantis representing a parent who was physically present but emotionally distant? Or something that connects you to a sibling, like a bee for my sister? Every design can hold a universe of personal meaning. Don't be afraid to explore abstract concepts or common symbols and twist them to fit your unique story. The best tattoos aren't just aesthetic; they’re chapters of your life story, beautifully told through ink.
