Learning to Get Comfortable w/ Being Uncomfortable
I wasn’t going to post this pic—because truthfully, I felt awkward, bloated, and like I was wearing a toddler’s dance costume. I almost skipped ballet on Wednesday.
But then I remembered a line from the book I started reading on the train that morning:
“Nulla dies sine linea.”
“Not a day without a line.”
From The Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet.
So I showed up anyway.
And somehow, despite everything, I made progress. My pirouettes at the barre were just a little sharper than last week. Not perfect. But better.
It reminded me: Growth doesn’t always look graceful.
Sometimes it looks like sweat, self-doubt, and showing up in an outfit you kinda hate.
Here’s to being uncomfortable—and doing it anyway.

Growth can often feel uncomfortable, yet it's a vital part of our journey. The quote "Nulla dies sine linea" from The Cecchetti Method reminds us that progress doesn't require perfection. In ballet, as in life, we learn that each small improvement counts. Whether you're facing self-doubt during classes or grappling with personal challenges, remember to show up for yourself every day. Engage in activities that may push you out of your comfort zone, like trying new hobbies or challenging yourself physically. Start small—take a dancing class or attempt a new recipe. The key is consistency; each step forward builds your confidence and skill. The struggle is real, but the rewards of stepping outside your comfort zone are immense and can lead to fulfilling personal growth. Embrace the discomfort and let it fuel your journey towards self-discovery and improvement.
