Bathroom Reset - Boy mom problems
I got a couple rules when I’m cleaning…especially the bathroom, and especially when other people been using it.
Rule #1 : You always pre-clean.
Pick up the hair, the dust, all that extra stuff before you even start the real cleaning.
Rule #2 still in pre-clean mode: Gloves on!! I use a napkin and wipe all the pee and whatever else off and around the toilet first! Then switch to sponges and towels, etc.
I usually spot clean every time OJ pees on the toilet or the floor. That smell had built up so bad in my bathroom …just lingering. Finally did a real deep clean: Walls, cabinets (because apparently pee travels) baseboards, and that little crease underneath the toilet seat
And all that standing up to pee = splashback on the floor, whether people wanna admit it or not. I don’t like that.
As a mom managing a busy household, I totally understand the unique challenges that come with bathroom cleanliness, especially when you have boys. A napkin or paper towel comes in handy here before switching to sponges and cloths. Deep cleaning goes beyond just scrubbing the toilet bowl. Pay attention to often neglected spots like the baseboards, cabinet fronts, and even the little crease underneath the toilet seat. Urine tends to travel and seep into these areas, so incorporating disinfectants such as peroxide into your routine can drastically reduce lingering smells. Just remember to wait 15-30 minutes after applying peroxide to let it work effectively. One practical tip is to keep cleaning supplies easily accessible in the bathroom to encourage quick spot cleaning whenever accidents happen. This prevents buildup of odors and stains, which are much harder to remove later. You may also want to consider bathroom mats that are easy to wash and mop the floor regularly. Living with boys means accepting some mess but having a clear and consistent bathroom cleaning routine can restore freshness and reduce stress. Take the entire seat off and clean the screws, holes and the top that covers the screws! That’s where urine sits!
