First off, let's talk about where you can find these amazing animals. Zebra Sharks call the warm waters of the Western Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean their home. Imagine swimming in those beautiful Indo-Pacific reefs, and you might just spot one of these unique sharks gracefully moving along the seafloor. They're not your typical fast-swimming pelagic shark; instead, they're what we call 'benthic,' meaning they prefer to hang out near the bottom. This lifestyle comes with some cool adaptations. Unlike some other sharks that need to keep swimming to breathe, Zebra Sharks can actually pump water over their gills while staying perfectly still. How cool is that? It means they can take a little break without worrying about suffocating! What do these fascinating creatures get up to down there? Well, they're mostly nocturnal, meaning they come alive when the sun goes down.
