Worth The Hype…
ALCHEMISED
By SenLinYu
I lost sleep reading this book! 2 Days I couldn’t put it down. Over 1000 Pages! I definitely see what all of the hype is about. Not normally a genre I would read, however I am so happy I did. I don’t want to say tooo much because I know a lot of people are reading it right now. BUT I did see where Legendary Entertainment picked it up for a movie! The same peeps who brought DUNE to life, so I think we’re in good hands!
*Side note: I’m a huge fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, making me familiar with certain terminology. If you don’t know much about alchemy I could definitely see where you may have to slow down reading just to absorb everything.
To The Blurb….
Once a promising alchemist, Helena Marino is now a prisoner—of war and of her own mind.
Her Resistance friends and allies have been brutally murdered, her abilities suppressed, and the world she knew destroyed.
In the aftermath of a long war, Paladia’s new ruling class of corrupt guild families and depraved necromancers, whose vile undead creatures helped bring about their victory, holds Helena captive.
According to Resistance records, she was a healer of little importance within their ranks. But Helena has inexplicable memory loss of the months leading up to her capture, making her enemies wonder: Is she truly as insignificant as she appears, or are her lost memories hiding some vital piece of the Resistance’s final gambit?
To uncover the memories buried deep within her mind, Helena is sent to the High Reeve, one of the most powerful and ruthless necromancers in this new world. Trapped on his crumbling estate, Helena’s fight-to protect her lost history and to preserve the last remaining shreds of her former self-is just beginning. For her prison and captor have secrets of their own ... secrets Helena must unearth, whatever the cost.

Okay, so let's talk about something I know many of you are curious about after seeing the buzz around 'ALCHEMISED' by SenLinYu, especially that striking book cover! When I first saw it, the gothic landscape immediately pulled me in. It's such a perfect visual representation of the world you're about to dive into. The way the bare trees and the ruined building loom in the background, contrasted with that small figure in the bright red cloak – it just screams mystery and a touch of danger, doesn't it? It perfectly sets the tone for Helena's journey through Paladia's dark, necromancer-ruled world. That cover alone told me this wasn't going to be a light read, and I was absolutely right! It's a masterpiece that hints at the deep, intricate world-building inside. Now, for the question on everyone's minds, and one I saw popping up a lot: 'Is ALCHEMISED spicy?' This is always subjective, right? What one person considers 'spicy' another might just call 'intense romance.' Without giving away any spoilers, I can say that if you're diving into 'romantsy' (romance fantasy), you can generally expect some level of romantic tension and intimacy. 'ALCHEMISED' definitely delivers on the romantic front, weaving it seamlessly into the high-stakes plot. There's a slow-burn element, deep emotional connections, and moments of significant passion that contribute to the overall intensity of the story. It's not just thrown in for shock value; the romance feels earned and crucial to the character development and the unfolding mystery. For me, the chemistry between Helena and certain characters was palpable, adding another layer of depth to an already immersive story. If you're looking for a book where the romance is as compelling as the magic system and the political intrigue, then you'll likely find what you're looking for here. It’s definitely not a purely 'clean' read, but the 'spice' serves the narrative rather than overshadowing it. It's more about the emotional journey and the powerful bond that forms under extreme circumstances, making those intimate moments feel even more impactful. Beyond the cover and the romance, I also want to share a tip for tackling such a massive book. Over 1000 pages can seem daunting, but I found that breaking it down into smaller reading goals helped. And don't be afraid to take notes, especially with the rich alchemy terminology. Having some familiarity with alchemy definitely enhanced my understanding. If you're new to the genre, just allow yourself to absorb the world at your own pace. You won't regret getting lost in Helena's fight for her memories and her very identity. Happy reading!

Wish I could afford it
