... Read moreOkay, so I finally decided to dive into the animal-based diet, and let me tell you, I've heard SO many good things about it that I just had to give it a try! For years, I've just kind of winged my eating habits, constantly feeling like something wasn't quite right with my energy levels or digestion. But with all the buzz around this way of eating, focusing on nutrient-dense animal products and carefully selected whole foods, I felt it was truly time for a change. My main goals? To feel more consistently energized, improve my gut health, and hopefully see some positive body transformation results – fingers crossed for a healthier me in 2024! One of the biggest questions I had, and I know many of you probably do too, is about animal-based diet with fruit. Initially, I had this image of a very restrictive, all-meat diet, but surprisingly, many interpretations of the animal-based diet do enthusiastically include fruits! This was a huge relief for me because I genuinely love my fruit. The idea behind including them is to supply natural carbohydrates for energy, essential vitamins, and antioxidants from sources that are generally well-tolerated and nutrient-dense. So, yes, you can absolutely enjoy a variety of delicious animal based diet fruits on this plan! It’s all about finding balance and what makes you feel best. My first animal based grocery haul was actually quite an adventure and pretty exciting! I hit up the store with a mission to stock up on all the essentials for my new eating style. For the animal protein, I focused on quality, picking up various cuts of organic beef, some lean ground beef, and even some convenient beef sticks for quick, on-the-go snacks. Pasture-raised eggs were a must-have – I swear they taste better and are so versatile! Dairy and healthy fats were also high on my list, so I grabbed creamy Greek yogurt, rich butter, and some tasty cheese. These provide crucial nutrients and make meals more satisfying. And for the fruits, which many of you might be curious about, I went all out! My basket was overflowing with vibrant pineapple, ripe bananas, juicy oranges, creamy avocados (yes, botanically a fruit!), and even some starchy sweet potatoes (often treated like a veggie but a great carb source!). Of course, I loaded up on a rainbow of berries: sweet strawberries, tart raspberries, and antioxidant-rich blueberries. It really showed me that this diet isn't just restrictive; it can be incredibly diverse and colorful, especially with the right fruit choices. It definitely busts the myth that it's just meat, meat, meat! I'm only just starting this journey, but I'm already feeling a sense of renewed hope and optimism. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the often-reported animal-based diet benefits like sustained energy throughout the day, improvements in digestion, clearer skin, and just an overall elevated feeling of well-being. It's a significant shift from my previous eating habits, but knowing I can still enjoy my favorite fruits while focusing on nutrient-dense animal products makes it feel much more sustainable and enjoyable for me. If you're thinking about trying an animal-based diet, my advice from day one is to do your research, listen to your body, and figure out what specific foods (including which fruits!) work best for your unique system. Don't be afraid to experiment with different food combinations and cooking methods. And definitely include those whole, natural fruits if you love them like I do!
