Recovering from Endo Surgery? Don’t stop there!

Most people think recovery ends when the incisions close — but true healing happens beneath the surface. 👇

Even though laparoscopic scars look tiny on the outside, the internal healing process is complex. The body forms bands of scar tissue (adhesions) as part of its natural repair response — and while that’s protective at first, if not supported, those adhesions can later restrict blood flow, nerve communication, and organ mobility.

Here are 5 things you can do to:

👉 Prevent Adhesions From “Sticking”

👉 Restore Circulation and Detox Pathways

👉 Reconnect the Nervous System

👉 Support Hormone Balance and Fertility

👉 Prevent Chronic Inflammation & Endo Recurrence

In no particular order:

🌿 1. Electromagnetic Therapy (PEMF)

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy helps repolarize cells, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and support tissue regeneration. It can soften adhesions and enhance oxygenation around surgical sites — essentially encouraging the tissue to remodel more effectively.

💆‍♀️ 2. Myofascial & Abdominal Massage

Gentle self-massage or professional visceral manipulation helps break down adhesions, improve lymphatic drainage, and restore fascial glide between organs. This reduces tension, pain, and the “stuck” feeling many experience post-laparoscopy.

🫁 3. Breathwork & Somatic Movement

Diaphragmatic and rib-expanding breathwork (especially paired with slow twists or gentle stretches) supports fascial hydration and mobility. It also regulates the nervous system, shifting the body out of protective bracing so tissues can reorganize.

🧬 4. Nutrient & Collagen Support

Scar remodeling requires adequate vitamin C, zinc, copper, glycine, and collagen peptides for fibroblast repair. Including anti-inflammatory foods (omega-3s, turmeric, bone broth) helps the tissue stay pliable rather than fibrotic.

🔥 5. Red Light or Near Infrared Therapy/Saunas

Low-level light therapy penetrates deep into tissue to stimulate mitochondrial function and collagen turnover, reducing pain and promoting more flexible scar formation.

... Read moreWhen I first came out of endometriosis surgery, I thought the hard part was over. My incisions were tiny, almost invisible, but what I soon realized was that true healing journey for internal scar tissue and adhesions was just beginning. The thought of those sticky bands forming inside and potentially causing more pain or even infertility was daunting. It wasn't enough to just let time pass; I knew I had to actively work to remodel and soften scar tissue after endo surgery. For me, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy was a game-changer. I started with a small at-home mat, using it daily for short sessions. It felt like a gentle hum, and over weeks, I noticed a subtle but definite difference in areas that felt tight or 'stuck.' It’s like giving your cells a gentle energetic nudge to start repairing themselves more efficiently and reduce inflammation, which is crucial for preventing more scar tissue formation. Then there’s myofascial and abdominal massage. This one felt a bit scary at first, especially around my tender belly. I learned some gentle self-massage techniques – soft, circular motions around my lower abdomen, always listening to my body and never pushing into pain. After a few months, I decided to see a specialist for visceral manipulation. It’s incredible how a skilled therapist can gently work with your organs and fascia to release tension and improve mobility. This literally helps to 'unstick' those adhesions, promoting better blood flow and lymphatic drainage, which are essential for breaking down scar tissue from endometriosis. I also embraced breathwork and somatic movement wholeheartedly. Simple diaphragmatic breathing, where your belly expands with each inhale, became a daily ritual. Paired with gentle pelvic tilts or slow, mindful twists, it truly helped reconnect my mind to my body. It’s not just about flexibility; it’s about signaling to your nervous system that you’re safe, allowing your tissues to relax and reorganize. This subtle daily practice significantly contributed to softening my internal landscape. And of course, nutrition. Nutrient and collagen support became a huge focus. I made sure my diet was rich in anti-inflammatory foods like wild-caught salmon, turmeric, and plenty of colorful vegetables. I added a high-quality collagen peptide supplement to my morning routine, alongside extra Vitamin C and zinc, which are vital building blocks for tissue repair. Think of it as giving your body all the right tools to rebuild healthy, pliable tissue instead of rigid scar tissue. Bone broth also became a staple for its gut-healing and collagen-boosting properties. Finally, red light therapy was another tool I incorporated. I used a handheld device on my abdomen, and the warmth felt comforting. Knowing it was penetrating deep to stimulate cellular repair and collagen turnover gave me peace of mind. It’s a wonderful, non-invasive way to support your body in creating more flexible scar formation, rather than dense, restrictive adhesions. My journey to break down scar tissue from endometriosis surgery has been about consistency and patience. It’s about understanding that recovery is an ongoing process, and empowering myself with these practical steps made all the difference in my healing. Always remember to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new therapies, but these methods truly helped me on my path to feeling better and preventing recurrence.
