what are y’all’s opinions on this book??

2024/10/9 Edited to

... Read moreI totally feel you on being hooked but confused by 'The Paris Apartment'! I just started listening to the audiobook too, and it's one of those thrillers that keeps you guessing at every turn. Lucy Foley really knows how to weave a tangled web, doesn't she? Every time I think I've got a handle on what's happening, another twist throws me right off. One thing that immediately caught my eye, even before diving into the story, was 'The Paris Apartment' book cover. That dark building with the pink title text really sets such an intriguing and slightly ominous tone. It perfectly hints at the secrets hidden within those walls. It makes you wonder what kind of dark secrets and luxurious drama are about to unfold in that seemingly glamorous Parisian setting. I think the cover alone does a fantastic job of drawing you in and makes you want to uncover the mysteries inside. And speaking of mysteries, let's talk about some of the early hints and plot points. I'm particularly intrigued by all the mentions, or what I've picked up, about a '6 story club' in Paris (or perhaps it's a specific floor or a group of residents in a six-story building?). It feels like this '6 story club Paris' is going to be central to the entire puzzle. Is it a real club, a metaphor, or a specific group of people living on the sixth floor? Each resident seems to have their own secrets and motivations, and I'm trying to piece together how they all connect. The way Lucy Foley introduces each character, making them all suspects in their own right, is brilliant and part of why it's so hard to put down. I've also been thinking about Lucy Foley's writing style in general. She has such a talent for creating atmospheric settings and unreliable narrators, which is probably why we're both feeling so confused yet captivated! Her ability to build suspense and keep you second-guessing makes her books truly immersive. It’s not just a straightforward whodunit; it’s a deep dive into character psychology and the hidden lives within seemingly ordinary places. If you've already finished 'The Paris Apartment,' I'd love to hear your spoiler-free thoughts on the '6 story club' element or any other intricate details that stood out to you. Did you find it as mind-bending as I do? What were your theories as you were listening or reading? I'm trying to resist the urge to skip ahead, but the confusion is almost addictive! I'm really enjoying the journey of trying to figure out what happened to Ben and what secrets everyone in that Parisian apartment building is hiding. It's truly a masterclass in modern mystery writing.

I’m super late buuuttt… literally started reading it yesterday, finished it today… Floored, ok?! I loved it, start to finish. The dual timelines will trip you up if you’re listening to it, which is why I switched to physical copy. Keep going, I hope it pleasantly surprises you the way it did for me 🤗

BookTok is full of amazing creators and content and I'd be lying if I said I didn't doomscroll it. BUT a lot of creators do lie (at least a little bit) about what they're reading and how fast they're reading. There is definitely some toxicity being spread on BookTok, especially r
